

C Thomas Stitt Sr., 87, passed away on August 2, 2023. He was predeceased in death by his wife and soulmate, Nancy, who passed away in 2018 after 57 years of marriage and by his parents, Garnet and Bill Cooper. He is survived by a son, Charles Stitt, Jr, a daughter, Patti Monroe (David) and three grandchildren: Kristin Hecht, Cat Iris and Lauren Stitt. He also leaves behind extended family including his nephew Colonel Joe Adkins (Retired USMC) (Betty), great nieces Dani Foley (Kevin) and Chelsea Parker (Michael) and many special friends.
He was born in Portsmouth, Va on March 29, 1936, and moved to Florida with his family in 1945 where he remained until his death. He graduated from Robert E Lee High School where he was a member of the Marching Band. He went on to work for Ace Electric Supply Company his entire career.
He joined the Morocco Shriners in 1967, was President of the Minis in 1970 and President of the West Jax Shrine Club in 1972.
He was the Worshipful Master of Solomon Lodge No 20 in 1975 and was a loyal member for over 59 years, receiving four Service Awards from the Grand Lodge.
He enjoyed scouting with his son and served as the Scout Master for Troop 99 from 1977-1982, deep sea fishing, photography and was an Expert Marksman and Life Member of the Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club.
He was Nancy’s soulmate, a devoted father and loving Grandad. He will live on in the memory of the many people his life touched.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM, Saturday, September 30th, 2023, at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel.
