

Carl W. Johnson, age 95, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Carl was born June 22, 1927. Born in New York to Ebba and Charles Johnson, he was raised in Sweden and Greenwich, Connecticut, and returned from the US Navy after WWII to New Jersey and moved from Chatham to Tampa, FL by Owens-Illinois with Ginger (wife) and daughter Cynthia.
He retired in 1991 as Executive Director of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. He summered in North Carolina prior to moving to Sun City Center following divorce from Alene Hendry Johnson. His daughter Cynthia and ex-wife Virginia Johnson predeceased him. He is survived by granddaughters Melissa Anne O'Leary and Sarah Elizabeth Brooke; son-in-laws Brennan O'Leary and Wayne Brooke; great grandsons Harrision Brooke, Logan Brooke, and Sawyer O'Leary; and great-granddaughters Maggie Brooke, Andie O'Leary and relatives in Sweden.
He served sixty-five years as a member of Masonic Lodge 33 in New Jersey. He was a member of Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church, life member Tampa Club, Founder of Scandinavian Club of Sun City Center and Senior member of Sertoma and Order of DeMulay. He was active in many volunteer positions and boards.
A committal service will occur Monday, October 10th, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to Shriners Hospital.
