

Carlene was born to Carl and Mary Ann Gay in Dawson Georgia in 1953, the oldest of 3 daughters. She has been a resident of Jacksonville Florida since 1962 and graduated from Ribault High School with the class of 1971. Carlene had a love and passion for music learning to play the piano and violin from a young age, she also enjoyed to sing and sang in the church choir. She retired from the U.S. Courts after more than 20 years of service having previously worked in the banking industry. Carlene loved to travel, especially cruising, and enjoyed many trips to beautiful places as well as being a Girl Scout troop leader, volunteer for events at St. Patricks, and an avid concert goer. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandparent, cousin and a loving friend to many.
She is preceded in death by her father Reverend Carl R Gay (1999). She leaves behind her mother, Mary Ann Gay; sisters, Ralphanne Gay-Cayer (Bernard) and Rosanne Hilton (Paul); her daughter, Dell Jones (Shannon) and son, Ian Spaeth. Granchildren include Hunter Maddox (Claire), Holden Jones (Ayla), Hayden Jones and Banner Spaeth. She additionally had 4 great-grandchildren, Kyson, Kyiah, Kyleah and Elias and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive guests at Corey-Kerlin, 1426 Rowe Ave in Jacksonville at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 7th 2021 with a service following at 11:00 am. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 8th in Bronwood Georgia.
