

Carrie Belle Bennett Coker, 93, of Jacksonville FL, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016. She was born in Clay County in Highland FL on April 7, 1923 to John and Alma Bennett. Carrie graduated from Bradford County High School. She married Foster H. Coker, Sr. on December 9, 1941 in Lake City FL.
Carrie worked for the City of Jacksonville in the Finance Director's and General Counsel's offices for 36 years. For over sixty years, Carrie was a loyal member of Springfield Baptist Church where her late husband Foster served as a deacon for over 20 years. She was a member of the Riverside Garden Club and was an avid bowler her entire life. She was also a devoted member of Springfield Baptist Church. Affectionately known as Mimi, Carrie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Foster H. Coker, Sr., her grandson, Joshua Boston, and her brother, J.E. Bennett.
Carrie is survived by her son, Foster H. Coker, Jr. (Glinda), her daughters, Patricia Taylor and Susan Boston (Ron), and her grandchildren, Foster H. Coker III (Pam), Regina T. Fisher (Larry), Lamar Coker (Angie), Shelly Rabon (Aaron), Janis Dolembo, and Kari Boston (Ben). She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Norie Mast (Dick) and Bea Rocher, and 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Carrie had a gentle, loving spirit and was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood, 729 Edgewood Ave. S., Jacksonville FL 32205. The funeral service will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood, with burial to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32205.
