

Mrs. Millan was born on June 7, 1925 in Jacksonville, FL, to Pierre Joseph Damien Larmoyeux and Mary McMullen Larmoyeux. A life-long resident of Jacksonville, Mrs. Millan graduated from St. Paul’s High School in Jacksonville in 1942. She married Harold Millan, her high school sweetheart, in 1942 – a marriage of 73 years until his death in November 2015. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Parish.
During World War II, Mrs. Millan was employed in clerical positions at several banks, including the Federal Reserve Bank in Jacksonville. In the late 50s, she founded and managed the Jax Name Plate Company. She returned to school in the late 60s, and completed her B.A. in Education in 1970 at Jacksonville University. She finished her formal education in 1977, receiving her M.S. in Information and Library Science from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL.
Mrs. Millan began working for the Duval County School System in 1970. She was a teacher at the Oceanway Elementary School, and then served as a librarian at the Loretto and Venetia Elementary Schools. She was listed in the 1977-1978 edition of Who's Who in American Education. Mrs. Millan was selected as the 1992 Venetia Teacher of the Year. Additionally, she spent a year teaching at the Lochart Elementary School in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. She retired in 1992.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Pi; Duval County Library Association, Duval County Reading Council; Duval County Retired Teachers Association; Florida Retired Teachers Association, and Beta Phi Mu (Library and Information Honor Society).
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, swimming, researching genealogy, and attending Florida State football games with her husband and sons.
She is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Harold Jr. and Kathlyn of Carmel, CA, Dr. Joseph and Patricia of Jacksonville, FL, and Drs. Terance and Susan of Gainesville, FL; her daughter, Gayle, of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren (Kit, Robyn, Matthew, Patrick, Luke, Jessica, and Jamie) and 2 great-grandchildren (Jayce and Beck).
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Pierre Larmoyeux of West Palm Beach, FL; Mary Luibel of Ft. Worth, TX; Dr. Louis Larmoyeux of Jacksonville, FL; Julia Butler of Chandler, AZ; and Mercedes Pennington of Jacksonville, FL.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 17 at 10:00AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd.,32207.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NE FL Community Hospice. Assisting the family is Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32211.
