

Cecil Lamar Sparkman, born on December 4, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 88. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Cecil was known for his dedication to his family, community, and work.
Cecil graduated with a high school diploma, which laid the foundation for a successful career. He retired from JEA, where he was respected for his commitment and service.
On July 19, 1958, Cecil married Gail Sparkman, with whom he shared a long and fulfilling life. Together, they raised a loving family, including their children: Veronica G. Seymour, Miledge H. Sparkman, Paula B. Johnson, Catherine C. Maxwell, Frances C. Wilkes, and William L. Sparkman. Cecil was also a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In his personal time, Cecil enjoyed hunting, working in the garden, and cherished family gatherings. His involvement in the community was marked by his attendance at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a valued member.
Cecil is survived by his beloved wife, Gail, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Leroy Sparkman and Mary Katherine Sparkman.
Cecil Lamar Sparkman will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, beginning at 5pm and going until 7pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at St. Joseph's Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretta Rd., Jacksonville, FL, at 10am. A Committal service will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery.
