Mr. Charles V. “Andy” Anderson, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, March 25, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, Daphene, and his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Sigmund, and Sandy and David.
He was born in Lyons, GA, on June 23, 1932, the son of the late James Joseph and Donnie Mae Anderson. Andy was a faithful husband, loving father, and doting grandfather and great-grandfather. After serving his country in the U.S. Army he briefly relocated to Miami, Florida where he met his late wife, Nadine Pierce, and had fond memories of his bread delivery route for Wholesome Bread Company. He ultimately settled in Jacksonville, FL when he went to work for Seaboard Coastline in the late 1950’s. After purchasing Tony’s Pizza King in 1968, he opened Angelo’s Italian Restaurant, a local favorite, and a mainstay of the Arlington community for 32 years. Andy, “Mr. A.” as he was known at Angelo’s, took great delight in calling those he loved by special nicknames. He “retired” to South Georgia in 2004, and soon went to work at the local grocery store in the produce department. Over the last 7-8 years, he ran a kiosk in the supermarket selling “Andy’s Bar-B-Q.” He is remembered by all who knew him as a kind, hard-working and respected man.
Andy is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Priscilla Daphene. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Nadine. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Sigmund Mayerlen of Jacksonville, FL, and Sandra and David Fann of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren Cammi [Jason] Owens of Belton, TX; Corey [Julie] Mayerlen of St. Mary’s, GA; Caleigh [Jason] Ridlehoover of Greer, SC; Clayton [Brittny] Mayerlen of Jacksonville, FL; Travis [Samantha] Fann of Auburn, AL; and Paige [Kyle] Malucci of Fernandina, FL; and his 14 great-grandchildren.
