There’s really no neat or proper way to sum up someone like Kevin, and honestly, he’d be the first to say we shouldn’t even try. If you knew him, you know: he was one of a kind. Big heart. Bigger opinions. And an unshakable belief that any problem could be solved with the right tool, a cold drink, or a perfectly timed smart remark.
Born in Savannah, Kevin came into the world with an unbeatable sense of humor, a love for a good project (as long as it wasn’t at his house), and an uncanny ability to fix anything…. or at least confidently pretend he could. He made it his mission to spread laughter, love, and a healthy dose of sarcasm everywhere he went in the world, usually when you needed it most, whether you knew it or not.
He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard which obviously granted him immunity to seasickness, a fact he wanted to prove to anyone who made the unfortunate mistake of humoring that line of conversation. Following his service, he built a career in telecommunications, naturally becoming the guy anyone called when the Wi-Fi went out, the cable box blinked, or a remote disappeared into the void.
But Kevin’s real legacy wasn’t the things he fixed, or the fun facts and conspiracy theories he always had ready to spark an interesting conversation. It was how he quietly loved people by showing up, pretending to have a conversation when he was really just listening, creating opportunities to spend time together, and living life to the fullest as “vacation Kevin” or “the life of the party”.
He was a devoted parent, the most fun-loving grandparent, a wonderful husband, and a fiercely loyal friend. More than anything, he loved Vickie and his family, his questionably lazy dog who he’d happily wear in a baby carrier on walks, TV, and his ‘quiet time’ at the range. He loved anything that gave him time with his family including traveling, building things, and most of all, making memories. He was the first to lend a hand, crack a joke, or show up with exactly what you didn’t know you needed. His faith in Jesus and steadfastness was shown in all the small moments and in all the quiet things he did for those he loved.
Preceded by his wonderful father, he is survived by his wife, Vickie; his children, Katherine, Kristine (husband Chris), and Kristopher; his grandchildren, Mia and Roman; his mother, Beverly; and his sister, Teresa (husband Gary), each of whom carry forward his legendary sense of humor, quiet acts of service, and unfortunately for any innocent onlooker, his hot new dance moves.
