

Charles was born on October 15, 1964, in Plymouth, Indiana. Charles served in the US Navy from December 1981 to December 1985. He then started his career as a commercial truck driver. He went on to pursue his dream of a career in law enforcement. He started his career as a deputy with the Clay County Sheriff's Office in November 2006. In 2020, Charles transitioned to the Clay County District Schools Police Department. He worked as a resource officer at Fleming Island Elementary School until 2023. Then, in January 2024, Charles joined the Orange Park Police Department, where he served his community until he was called home. During his career in law enforcement, Charles received a Certificate of Commendation, Teamwork Award, 2 Letter of Commendation, and a Life Saving Award. He was respected by his fellow officers as well as the community. Charles was loved and respected by the students and staff of Fleming Island Elementary School. He always said the students were his kids and he would always protect them.
Charles was survived by his wife of 25 years, Faye Troutt. He was also survived by his loving daughter, Sheila (Wayne), grandsons Da’Sean and Zane, parents Howard and Rita White, sister Robyn White, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Pittsford.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5 pm-8 pm at Corey Kerlin Funeral Home located at 940 Cesery Blvd. The service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Corey Kerlin Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11:30 am at the National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road.
