Worth was a man of the sea, an avid sport fisherman who found joy pursuing Marlin, Tuna, and Wahoo aboard his boat, the NaviGator. A passionate supporter of the Florida Gators, his love for the ocean and the sunrise was matched only by his devotion to his family and career.
Born with a deep-rooted appreciation for hard work and tradition, Worth attended The Bolles School, graduating in 1953. He later attended the University of Alabama, where he met the love of his life, Ann Bradley Turner. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Worth is preceded in death by Ann and his parents, Charles Hollingsworth Turner and Louise Cooper Turner, who he is now at rest alongside.
Worth spent his career at the helm of Turner Plumbing Company, a family business he guided with pride and dedication. He was a founding member and past president of the Northeast Florida Marlin Association, finding his greatest happiness on the water and in the company of fellow sport fishermen and loved ones.
He is survived by his son, Worth "Buz" Turner, and daughter-in-law Carla; his daughter Deborah Hyers and son-in-law Steve. Worth was a proud grandfather to Worth Turner (Zach Neumann), Kendal Rohane (Quinn), Kristen Pizzo (Chris), and Kaleigh Hyers. His great-grandchildren brought him endless joy: Turner and Annie (children of Kristen and Chris) along with Reagan, Peyton, and Witt (children of Kendal and Quinn).
Worth's love for his family and his zest for life were evident in every sunrise he watched and every wave he rode. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the memories he created.
A graveside service celebrating Worth’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. The family invites all who knew and loved Worth to join them in honoring his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Community Hospice at Baptist South or The GTM Research Reserve, helping protect sea turtles.
