

Charlotte Owen Hardin, age 87, and a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL passed away on December 26, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Born on September 18, 1926, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Ellison Proctor Owen, Jr. and Charlotte Edwards Owen. She graduated from Lee High School in 1944 and later attended Mary Baldwin College and Stetson University. In 1950, Charlotte married the late Rex E. Hardin. Charlotte was a homemaker and avid golfer. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to golfing destinations and cruising. Charlotte was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Charlotte is survived by two sons, Rex E. Hardin, Jr. and Michael O. Hardin (Susan) of Plant City, FL. She is also survived by one brother, Frank H. Owen of Windermere, FL and one granddaughter, Kimberly Hardin of Scottsdale, AZ. Charlotte was predeceased by sisters, Frances and Isabel: brothers, Ellison and Arthur; and daughter-in-law, Gloria.
The family would like to acknowledge friend and caregiver, Polly Salmon, for her devoted support and care in Charlotte’s later years. Charlotte was also blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors, Steven Bogarat, Tom Watson, and Tom and Barbara Riley.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery.
