Claude Holmes Whitaker

WHITAKER: Claude Holmes Whitaker, 96, passed away January 15, 2013. A Jacksonville native, he was born January 5, 1917 and graduated from Jackson High School in 1934. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and saw action in the battle of Guadalcanal. Holmes was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Janet Smith Whitaker.

Surviving are a son, William Holmes Whitaker, grandson, Ryan Allen Whitaker, granddaughter, Heather Nicole Whitaker, nephew, Lamar Holmes Whitaker, niece, Laurie Elizabeth Stucki, grand niece, Lori Ann Whitaker and grand niece, Lauren Elizabeth Stucki.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 6 – 8pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Graveside services will be Friday, January 18 at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Fr Gerald Alexander officiating

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 21 at 11:00 am in All Saints Episcopal Church 4171 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207 Fr. Tom Deppe officiating
