Clayton Gooding

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Patricia Ann (Mickler) Gooding, his sons David Glenn Gooding (Susan), John Michael Gooding (Lucy), his daughter Cathryn Marie Gooding, his Brother James Clarence Gooding (Sylvia), four grand children, numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends. In addition, he is survived by his extended Texas family of half siblings, Connie Wilson, Barbara Shock (Ronnie), Wilson Gooding, Jr. (Linda) and GiGi Callender (Ronald). He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Francis Gooding (Pammy) and Step-mother Florence Louise Gooding.

Born in St. Augustine, the first son of Wilson and Arlene (Perpaul) Gooding, he was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. Mr. Gooding graduated from LandonHigh School in 1953 and was married to Patricia Mickler in 1956 at East 44th Street Baptist Church. He worked in for Duval Motors for 35 years progressing to Parts Manager before retiring in 1996.

Mr. Gooding was an active member and Deacon at San Jose Baptist Church. He was a devoted Christian who freely gave his time and energy to anyone in need.

Mr. Gooding had a passion for family, fishing and fellowship with members of his church family.
