Dan L. Eddins, Sr., 69, left his earthly body to begin his journey in Heaven with Jesus and the many family and friends who have waited for him. Dan lost his battle with cancer on May 5, 2016 in the loving care of Community Hospice. He was born to Leon “Eddie” Glen Eddins and Connie Boatwright and is the third son of five boys.
Dan served in the Florida National Guard for six years after graduating from Englewood High School in 1964. He was a heating, air and refrigeration specialist for many years; starting at Sid Harvey, Coastline, Pameco and Baker Distributing. He loved his work and many people in the industry looked to him for expert advice; as well as a daily dose of humorous sarcasm.
He had a great love for his country and didn’t hesitate to share his opinion, usually in few words. A true woodsman he loved hunting, camping, gardening and just getting his hands dirty. He thrived when working around the house. He loved to cook chili and boiled peanuts and playing lotto. He loved animals so much he would intentionally miss when deer hunting. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband and father. He was a rock for many. Dan never complained and would always do what needed to be done and moved on to the next thing. He will surely be missed and grieved by everyone who knew him.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glenn and Don. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 35 years, Kathryn “Kathy” M. Eddins (Marsh); daughters, Rhonda Carrell (Steve) and Melissa Pilgrim (Ben); son, Dan L. Eddins, Jr.; grandchildren, John, Hope, Peyton, Reagan, Aubrey, and Jacob; brothers, Eddie Eddins (Penny) and Dwight Eddins; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and 11 cats who loved him as well.
