

David Thomas Blackwelder, 61, passed on to be with the Lord on July 23, 2019 at his home in Keystone Heights, Florida with his wife, Peggy, at his side. David was born on September 26, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida at Baptist Hospital. He was the son of Thomas Edward Blackwelder and Lois Ann Simmons.
David worked as a printer and truck driver during his life. He was very passionate about all kinds of motorsports, especially drag racing. He loved riding motorcycles, particularly his trips to ride the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. He loved to fish and was a shark on the pool table. David loved animals, he spent considerable time helping rescue dogs. He also enjoyed making wine and became quite famous with his friends for it. David had a talent for fixing anything, which led to a reputation as the neighborhood hero. Most of all, David’s biggest passion was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed so much.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Peggy Blackwelder; his sons, Clinton Thomas Blackwelder and Matthew Tyler Blackwelder; his grandchildren, Kelly Ann Blackwelder and Nathaniel Thomas Blackwelder; and his sister, Karen. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Ann Simmons and father, Thomas Edward Blackwelder; and his brother, Jon Blackwelder.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Chaplain William N. “Bill” Allen officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Clay County Animal Care and Control.
