He was born in Hartford City, Indiana August 7, 1936. He moved here in 1959 from Valdosta, GA. He was a member at Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for 41 years. He served his country in the US Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evie L. Hammitt, 2 sons David (Gay) Hammitt, Eric (June) Hammitt, 2 daughters, Sarah Hammitt, Martha (Derek)Boucher, 1 brother, Philip (Bonnie) Hammitt, sister, Sally (Larry) Parman, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be Sunday the 28th at 2PM at Kernan Baptist Church, with a visitation on Saturday the 27th at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Boulevard.
With interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
