Dennis Gene Ratliff

Dennis Gene Ratliff AKA Dennis James Ratliff, 75, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021, in Jacksonville, FL. The tenth of fourteen children, Dennis was born in Reidsville, NC on December 13, 1945; he graduated from Ruffin High School (NC) in 1964 where he was an outstanding basketball and baseball player. Dennis attended Appalachian State University, Boone, NC and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business. During his career he maintained his CPA certification and held a real estate license, he spent over 30 years teaching accounting and finance at Wright State University (Ohio) and Jacksonville University (Florida).

Dennis is survived by his longtime companion, Barbara Vick; four children Tina Ratliff Hoskins and Christine Ratliff Rang (Jeffrey) of Dayton, Ohio, Dennis Jordan Ratliff of Jacksonville, FL, and Timothy Blake Ratliff (Blanca) of Gainesville, FL; siblings Marshall Ratliff (Cheryl) of Reidsville, NC, Sarah Ratliff Hopper of Eden, NC, Bernie Ratliff of Eden, NC, and Ernie Ratliff of Westbend, NC, four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Community Hospice of Jacksonville, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. 904-737-7171.
