He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in medicine and the University of Rochester with a degree in chemistry. He is predeceased by his loving wife Carol Smith Cohen to whom he was married for 61 years. He is survived by his children, Joanne Cohen, Dr. Debbie Abram (Dr. Harry), Stephen Cohen (Ellen) and 7 grandchildren. Emily, Libby, Rachael (Cameron), Katie (Mitch), Ben (Heather), Ra and Andy. He met his great granddaughter Emerson before he left on his latest adventure. His greatest joys included traveling, learning and spending time with his family. Dr. Cohen was well respected in the field of pathology and worked at Sharon Regional Hospital for his entire career.
A service will be held on Sunday, April 16 at 10:30 AM at Congregation Ahavath Chesed (The Temple), 8727 San Jose Blvd. The family requests that contributions in Don’s memory be made to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of North Florida or Doctors without Borders, USA Inc.
