

MARSHALL, Donald Lawrence “Don” Marshall, 73, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Mr. Marshall, a member of Vision Baptist Church, was a racing enthusiast and member of the NHRA Hall of Fame and New England Speedway Hall of Fame. He still holds the current motorcycle land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats and was the 1971 Gator Nationals Top Fuel Dragster Champion. He was also a partner with King & Marshall Racing Team. Mr. Marshall had previously lived and worked for over 20 years on the island of Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles, where he made many life long friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Alden Marshall and is survived by his wife, Susan Mullis Marshall; 5 daughters: Melinda Marshall, Donna Marshall Adams, Rhonda Marshall, Joy Edgy and Shallynn Brown; 1 sister, Dorothy Englis; 1 brother, James Marshall; 10 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; and many loving family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 22, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave., with Rev. F. Ray Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one (1) hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in Don’s memory to the Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
