Donald J. (Don) Quinn, age 94, of Jacksonville, Florida, died peacefully under the care of Community Hospice on February 21, 2026. Don was born December 9, 1931, in Jackson Heights, New York to William and Dorothy Quinn. Upon graduation from high school, Don enlisted in the Air Force and served as a Corpsman. When stationed in California, he met his soon-to-be wife Luella, also an Air Force enlistee. They happily married and remained so for over 64 years.
In 1965, Don joined Blumenthal Printworks as a Regional Sales Manager, initially based in New York, and later relocating to Atlanta in 1974. He worked with Blumenthal as a top producer until his retirement in 1998. After his career, Don and Luella loved to travel, visiting national monuments and historic sites across the country while spending time with friends and family along the way. They also loved to socialize and bring their neighbors closer together with regular gatherings at their home. As dedicated grandparents, they took great joy in spoiling the girls and making every Christmas season truly magical.
They eventually moved to Bonita Springs in southwest Florida where Don quickly became the “Designated Mayor” of Emerald Bay, the community where they lived. Don was an avid walker, logging 5-6 miles every day. He completed the Gate River Run in Jacksonville three times, a 9.3-mile race, walking at a brisk pace alongside his daughter Denise when he was 78, 79, and 80 years old. Don had an innate sense of humor, bringing joy and laughter into every room he entered. He had a passion for reading and was an unofficial member of Denise’s Book Club, often enjoying the books through her second-hand copies. Don remained a devoted member of the Catholic Church throughout his life. Upon learning of Denise’s diagnosis in 2010, he and Luella moved to Jacksonville to provide much needed love and support. Don’s devotion to his family was a true inspiration as he visited Denise every afternoon, without fail, for as long as his health would allow.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luella; his brother, Bill; and his cousin, Jackie. He is survived by his loving daughter, Denise (Pete); his sister, Delores; granddaughters, Jennifer (Patrick) and Carolyn (Michael); great-granddaughters, Raegan, Paige, and Noelle; niece and nephews and their families, Paul Stuebe, Brian Stuebe, Doug Stuebe, Peter Stuebe, Kevin Stuebe, Billy Quinn and Nancy Quinn. During his final years, he was cared for night and day by his committed caregiver, Veta Riggins.
