

27, 1954 in Ottawa, Canada, and died at age 63 in Jacksonville,
Florida, on March 31, 2018.
He was the youngest of three sons of Imogene Stroh Stumpf and Col. Robert Henry Stumpf, USA (ret.). The family moved from Ottawa to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Alexandria, Chesterfield County, Fort Lee and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Boyhood summers included trips to Royal Oak, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, visiting their grandparents’ summer home.
Donald enjoyed rowing on the crew teams at Francis C. Hammond and T. C. Williams High Schools in Alexandria, and at Marietta College. He also attended Colorado State University, and graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in civil engineering. Later, his passion for photography was rewarded with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah School of Art and Design. Donald worked in a variety of fields, notably as a draftsman, civil engineer, utility inspector, photographer, construction inspector, mechanic, and finally as a security guard with G4S Security Solutions (USA) in Jacksonville, Florida.
Besides photography, he loved kayaking in coastal areas, and exploring the remote natural woods throughout the southeastern states. His favorites were old growth forests, especially those in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. He was an avid reader of cerebral tomes and music aficionado of many genres. He was also a student and practitioner of Tai Chi. Donald devotedly cared for his mother toward the end of her life at Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Donald is predeceased by his parents. Living to honor and cherish his memory are his two brothers, LCol. Harry D. Stumpf, USA (ret.) and Capt. Robert E. Stumpf, USN (ret.), sister-in-law Susie, four nieces, a nephew, three great-nieces, and four great-nephews.
A family Committal Service will be held on June 1, 2018 at Eldorado Canyon State Park near Boulder, Colorado.
