

Don was born on May 7, 1928 in Troy, NY to Anton and Maude (Castle) Wahrlich. He was a proud US Navy veteran having served during World War II. After his service he graduated from business college and put his skills to use by working for over 30 years at the Watervliet Arsenal. Retiring in 1983, Don traveled for the next few years playing golf and making friends around the country until settling in Florida, where he continued to enjoy his golf game year round.
Don is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty); sons, Rick (Diana) Wahrlich and their sons Andrew and Brian Wahrlich, David (Melina) Wahrlich and their daughters Melissa (Chris) Dudley, Michelle (John) Andrews and Stephanie (Torrey) Owens, daughters Paula (Howie) Johannessen and their children Sara (Chris) Mooney and Cory (Cate) Johannessen, Sally (Eric) McCarthy and their children Arica and Cole McCarthy; brother Donald (Shirley) Bowes; stepsons, Joseph (Sharon) Coffey and their children Laura (Dan) Conlon and Chris Coffey, Michael (Marilyn) Coffey, Stephen Coffey and children Nicole (Robert) Owens and Kaitlyn Coffey; grandchildren Erin (David) Ehrlich, Dennis Coffey, Kelly (Chris) Forsberg; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a lifetime of wonderful friendships.
He is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Estelle and John Follos; brother Tom Wahrlich; stepson John Coffey; and daughter-in-law Barbara Coffey. Don is also remembered by his dear friend Rich (Joann) Burke whom Don considered more family than friend.
Arrangements entrusted to Hardage Giddens 729 S Edgewood Ave Jax. Fl 32205, where a private service will be held in his memory.
A public memorial service to celebrate his life, will take place on January 16, 2016, from 12:30- 2:30 p.m. at Memory Garden's 983 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12205 in Albany NY.
