

Donna Snively Hulsey passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 following a lengthy illness. She is predeceased by her parents, Wilbert Snively and Mamie Adams Snively; her sister, Nan Ella Byrd and her granddaughter Ella Grace Kellam. Survivors include her husband, Mark; her daughter, Anna (Randy) and son, Michael (Heather); grandchildren include Adam, Crawford, Madison, Sarah, Gavin and Christian; as well as her step-sons, Mark (Brittany) and McMillan, grandchildren, Sophia and Harper.
Donna was a graduate of Englewood High School where she was the first female Student Body President. She graduated from Jacksonville University in 1969 and received her Master’s Degree from University of North Florida in 1974. She dedicated 35 years of her life with the Duval County School Board serving as a Teacher, Coordinator, Program for the Gifted, Florida Diagnostic Learning Resource System, Principal Arlington Heights Elementary, Fort Caroline Elementary, and in July of 1989 she was selected to be the first principal of the state-of-the-art elementary school, one of seven new schools…Alimacani Elementary. Within seven years of opening, the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and a National Safe and Drug-Free School, and accordingly honored twice by the President of the United States at the White House. After 9 years at Alimacani she was selected as an Executive Director serving Stanton Prep., Paxon, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and Ed White High Schools in addition to multiple Elementary and Middle Schools. Donna retired in 2008. She was named Rotarian of the Year in 2008.
A funeral service will be held at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends following the service.
