After moving from Clay County, West Virginia to establish a new home with her husband Carmel in Jacksonville, Florida in 1959, Emogene spent her life as a faithful woman devoted to the Lord, her family, and the church. She is lovingly remembered as a strong Christian woman, dedicated wife, mother, Nana, sister, Sunday School teacher, prayer group member, and friend. She attended One Church of Jacksonville Beach, FL and was a member of Friendship Church’s prayer group. During her last years, Emogene enjoyed God’s creation each day by watching the waves and sky from her oceanfront home.
Emogene was preceded in death by her husband, Carmel Morris, mother and father, Ruby and Tommy Samples, brother, Neal Samples, and dear sister Nadine McKown. She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Bryan) Haskin, and Melody Morris. Emogene was a very devoted Nana to her three grandchildren, Brittany (Nick) Fedewa, Joshua (Amber) Barrs and Caleb (Hannah) Barrs, and her four great-grandchildren, Asher Fedewa, Hayden Barrs, Nolan Barrs and Malayna Barrs. Emogene is also survived by her brother, Garrett Samples, and sister, Karen Dawson.
