After marrying and moving to Jacksonville, Dot raised a family, educated herself and embarked on a decades long career in the Human Resources Department for the Duval County Public School System. Along with being a loving and caring Mother, Dot was a gentle soul, amateur artist and avid reader.
Dot is predeceased by her Husband James F. Smith, Daughter in law Donna Smith and Grandson David Smith. Dot is survived by her children Linda S. North (Danny), James M. Smith and Frederick M. Smith (Sherry). Grandchildren Amanda Rodriguez (Ed) and Brandon Smith. Great grandchildren August Lake, Carver Smith and Ryan Smith.
Dot's family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Baptist South Hospital, The Coves at River Garden and River Garden's Home Health team whom are amazing human beings that enriched Dot's life beyond description.
Funeral service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn chapel Thursday March 20th at 1PM.
Visitation for family and friends will be at 12 PM.
