
Dothema “Dottie” Powell, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, August 11, 2017 under the care of Haven Hospice in Orange Park Florida after an extended illness. Mrs. Powell was a native of Blackshear Georgia and a longtime resident of Jacksonville. She worked as a Hair Dresser at the elite H. Adair Stylist in downtown Jacksonville for over 30 years and has enjoyed 30 years of retirement. After retirement she enjoyed living in the mountains in North Carolina, finally settling in Hampton Florida. She enjoyed growing and canning her own vegetables, the outdoors and attending church. She was preceded in death by her parents John Henry Allen and Carrie Young Allen; brothers Ted, Fred, Buford and Judson Allen; sister Cherry Parker; her first husband Eric Brown and her second husband Stanley Powell. She is survived by her son Stephen Brown (Jacqueline); granddaughters; Jennifer Lewis (Michael) and Tiffany Brown; sister; Jannie Taylor; brothers; Will Allen (Uverla), Kelso Allen and Norman Allen. She is also survived by an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind many supportive friends at her church and in the community. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1305 Raiford Rd., Starke, FL 32091.
