

Douglas (Doug) Grant Riddell, 81, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Doug was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada on September 2, 1932. Doug grew up in the small town of Milton, Ontario, where he met and married Myrna King, his wife of 59 years.
He was a successful businessman and mentor, beginning his career in the fastener business in Milton, Ontario at P.L. Robertson. In 1958, he was offered a management opportunity and moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his wife and newborn daughter, Jan. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish several fastener and automotive safety equipment distribution companies in the United States and Canada, including Intertek Industrial Corp. in Jacksonville. Doug enjoyed all aspects of being a business owner, especially developing new products and traveling to Japan and Taiwan frequently for business.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered as a quiet, humble man with a kind heart. He enjoyed the symphony, Jaguar football games and family gatherings at their beach house.
He is survived by his loving wife, Myrna, his three daughters, Jan (Danny) Abdelnour, Carolyn (Don) Glisson and Lisa (Bill) Flack and six granddaughters, Meredith Abdelnour, Samantha and Abigail Glisson, and Hannah, Isabelle and Olivia Flack. Other survivors include his sister, Marion Featherstone (Jim) of Toronto, Ontario, and his brother Kenneth Riddell (Helen) of Milton, Ontario, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm Friday (Today), March 14th at St. John’s Cathedral, Cummings Chapel, 256 East Church Street, Jacksonville, Florida. Following the services, burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, San Jose Blvd.
