

Dr. Ira M. Dushoff, 82, Died July 30, 2013, at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Philadelphia, PA on May 15, 1931, Dr. Dushoff was double board certified as a General Surgeon and Plastic Surgeon. He did his residency at San Francisco Hospital, California, and General Surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Additionally, he was Chief of Surgery at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, Georgia. He came to Jacksonville in 1963 to fulfill the Plastic Surgery Residency. He was a visiting professor at University Hospital, Deputy Chief of the Residency for eight years, and decided to make Jacksonville his home. He received training for Microsurgery, in Louisville, Kentucky, and was the first doctor to successfully re-attach the hand on a young man.
His passions were his patients, vacationing across the United States and Canada in a motor home, white water rafting and hiking.
He is predeceased by his father, Leo Dushoff and Anne Dushoff, his mother, as well as Jay Dushoff his brother. He is survived by his wife Judy O. Dushoff, children and grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1st in New Center Cemetery, located at 43rd and Liberty Street, Jacksonville with Rabbi Gary G Perras as Officiant.
