

Earl “Buddy” Herndon, 89, passed away on August 31, 2012. Born in Surrency, GA to the late Eli and Gladys Herndon, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Buddy was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A member of the Masonic Lodge, he was Worthy Grand Patron of Florida from 1986-1987. He was inducted into the Jax Raceway Hall of Fame in 1992. He enjoyed driving on the beach, NASCAR, fishing, hunting, camping and the Florida Gators.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen “Betty” Herndon; sons, David Herndon and Terry Barry, he is survived by his son, Michael Barry; daughter-in-law, Karen Herndon; grandchildren, Randy Herndon (Rachel), Elisabeth Davis (Kip), Chase Barry (Linda), Chris Barry, Mike Barry (Georgie), and Julianna Zimmerman (Corey); great grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Kadence, Connor, Madison, Cole, Rylan, and Micah; along with numerous family members and friends.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Mandarin Cemetery, 12535 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
Memorial contributions may be made in Buddy’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
