Earl L. Howell

Earl L. Howell Sr. age 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 5th, 1926, in Jacksonville, Florida, Earl was a lifelong and beloved member of the community.

Earl attended ANdrew Jackson High School and enlisted in the Army during World War II at the age of 18. He served for two years, first as paratrooper, then a MIlitary Police officer. He had a career spanning more than five decades in the automotive parts industry and retired as a sales manager in 2004. Earl loved cars, taking long walks, chatting with neighbors and spending time with his family. He was known for his warmth, quirky sense of humor and kindness. He touched the lives of many throughout his long life.

Earl is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary P. Howell and his son Douglas Scott Howell. He is survived by his eldest son, Earl L. Howell Jr. (Susan), his son Steven E. Howell (Carol), and his daughter, Laura H. Creger (Brad). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Floral tributes are welcome and may be sent directly to Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211. A private service will be held in Earl's honor on Tuesday September 10, 2024.
