Edna Lane Stacy, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida’s Hadlow Center. She was born on July 9, 1932 in Shaw, Mississippi to the late Lora Lane Simpson and Roy Simpson. She and her brother (David), grew up in a small town, with their parents owning the local dry cleaners. Upon graduating high school, she married William R. (Buddy) Stacy Jr. on October 4, 1950 and remained married until death on November 23, 2014.
Edna had the most difficult job there is, raising 6 sons. For many years, she volunteered with the PTA. She began at Windy Hill Elementary and continued until she was the Duval County PTA President and on the State Board of Directors. Throughout the years, until the end, family was the most important thing to Edna. No matter if she was feeling good or bad, one thing was certain, Sunday dinner would be at moms. She loved to cook for her boys.
She was preceded in death by Buddy and 2 sons, William Dereck Stacy Jr. and Thomas Keith Stacy. She is survived by sons, Buster (Marion), Greg (Linda), Mike (Jeannie), Jeff (Kristie); daughter-in-law, Cheryl; 8 grandchildren, Timothy, Crystal, Dallas, Dereck, Skyler, Chelsea, Josh and Hannah; and one great-grandchild, Amelia.
A gathering of friends and relatives will be on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm with a Celebration of Edna’s Life beginning at 3:00pm at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
