

Ernest Howard Liffers, Capt. U.S. Navy Ret., age 86, passed away at the McGraw Center Community Hospice on September 12, 2016. He was born on June 2, 1930 in Paterson, NJ to Ernest Jacob and Emily Liffers. Capt. Liffers has been a resident of Jacksonville since 1956 moving from Japan.
Prior to retirement he served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Captain for more than 35 years and a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL. He was a proud and active V.F.W. member.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann Liffers. He is survived by one son, Ernest H. Liffers Jr. (Nancy) of Cumming, GA, three daughters,, Victoria E. Sather (Roger A.) of Cape Coral, FL, Robin A. McRae and Sara C. Muirhead (Jeremy) both of Jacksonville, FL,. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6320 Bennett Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32216
Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made in Mr. Liffer’s name to Community Hospice of N.E. Florida or the V.F.W.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery.
