Ernest Lowe Winney, 78, went home to be with his Lord on November 20, 2013 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born September 6, 1935 in Okeechobee, FL to Ernest Sr. and Evelyn Winney. Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Ann Palmer. Surviving family members include his loving wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Andrews Winney; daughter, Carol Elkins (Marty); sons, Herb Winney (Jean) and Chris Winney; and grandsons, Justin Elkins, Hunter Winney and Ryan Winney.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 26th in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Interment will be at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
