

Born and raised in Illinois, she moved to Jacksonville in the late 40’s with her young family. Jacksonville was home for the remainder of her life, living in every corner of it, most recently in Mandarin at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek.
She cherished her family and her church and was dedicated to their needs. She enjoyed traveling and many hobbies, especially gardening and all the sewing arts. Her life of quiet service and unfailing gratitude was an inspiration to all her knew her.
She is predeceased by her husbands, Roland D. Schaffer (1964) and William C. Rivers, Sr. (1983), her son, Robert E. Schaffer, Sr., and her brother, Everett Eckhoff. She is survived by two sons: Ronald (Martha) Schaffer of Tifton, GA and Lawrence (Carolyn) Schaffer of Jacksonville, FL; one brother: Milford (Barbara) Eckhoff of Chillicothe, IL; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren: nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 8th 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Avenue Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Ave. Jax., FL 32207. The funeral service, with Rev. Bill Yeldell officiating, will be Friday, March 9th at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd. Jax., FL 32207 at 2:00 pm.
