

BLACK-Evelyn H. Black, 84, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 30, 2010. She was born at Plant City, FL on September 15, 1925 to the late Levi and Ossie Harrell. Mrs. Black attended business school and had worked in real estate with her husband. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church since 1964. During her lifetime she was an active member of numerous organizations including the Parkwood Heights Elementary School PTA, the Junior Women’s Club and the Garden Club. Mrs. Black was also a runner-up in the Mrs. Florida Contest in 1963. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George W. Black, Jr. in January of this year, and is survived by her 2 sons, Ken Black (Mary) and Gregg Black (Tammy); sister, Becky Peterson; grandchildren, Juli Ritter (Evan), Joseph (Amy), Christina and Andrew Black; 2 great grandchildren, Caden and Logan Ritter and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, at Parkwood Baptist Church with Rev. William “Manny” Keyser officiating. Entombment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, at COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 940 Cesery Blvd. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Parkwood Baptist Church or the Gideons, International, Jacksonville East Camp, P.O. Box 11901, Jacksonville, FL 32239-1901.
