

OLSON…..Frances Cook Olson, 96, long-time resident of the Clifton area of Arlington in Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 09, 2010. Frances was born in Athens, GA on March 3, 1914. She graduated from Landon High School in Jacksonville in 1932 and was united in marriage to Leslie W. Olson in 1937. Their son, Leslie, was born in 1946. For many years Frances worked as a personal secretary for the Olson Corporation and for the Ivey H. Smith Company from which she retired in 1979. She was a long-time member of the St. Nicholas Park Christian Church and the Arlington Women’s Club. Following retirement, Frances enjoyed traveling and managed to visit most of the world. Her joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and her close relationship with her sisters and cousins. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, William Frances Cook and Loulie Cook Laseter; her stepfather, Leon Laseter; and her husband, Leslie W. Olson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leslie B. Olson, Sr. and Jean; grandson and his wife, Leslie B. Olson, Jr., and Cassandra; grandsons, Kristopher K. Olson and Kenyon J. Olson; and sisters, Winifred O’Steen and Katherine Wood. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Tuesday, April 13th at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. The funeral will be held at the funeral home at 3 PM Wednesday, April 14th with Rev. Jim Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
