

Frank James Dowd, age 29 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Frank was born on December 14, 1995 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in the Riverside area of Jacksonville to Monica Joann and E. Jeffrey Dowd. He is mourned by his parents, his sisters, Lucy Pearl Dowd and Ivy Grace Dowd, as well as a large extended family.
Frank was a talented piano student throughout his formative years, studying classical piano from age seven through college. He auditioned into the piano program at LaVilla School of the Arts where he played piano and saxophone in the Jazz Band. Frank was homeschooled and dual-enrolled at Florida State College at Jacksonville for high school, graduating with honors and receiving several academic scholarships. Frank was a competitive swimmer, competing every summer in the River City Swim League and eventually with the varsity swim team at Terry Parker High School. He went on to study Piano and Music Theory at FSCJ and William Jessup University in Sacramento, California. Upon his return to Jacksonville, Frank joined the ranks of professional servers and worked his way up to the best restaurants in the area.
Frank struggled with alcohol addiction for many years but in 2022 he committed himself to a rehabilitation program at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, Florida, completing the six-month program. He celebrated one year of sobriety and began to pursue other work interests. At the time of his death, Frank was working as an electrician in a job he loved at Stellar Energy.
A life cannot be summed up in three paragraphs. Frank’s family and friends will gather to remember him on December 27th at one o’clock in the afternoon, Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32223.
