

Gail Gibbens Stickley, 92, a native of Louisiana and resident of Jacksonville, FL, died peacefully on January 12, 2026. She was born in West Palm Beach, FL, to the late Richard Thomas Gibbens Jr. and Virgle Bush Gibbens.
Gail is survived by her four children, Pam Caffery and husband, Terry of Aiken SC, Paul Stickley and wife, Dawn of Waco TX, Todd Stickley of Jacksonville FL, and Richard Stickley of Branch LA. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Bryson Elmore and wife Morgan of Williamsburg VA, Michael Stickley of Fort Worth TX, Connor Stickley of Branch LA, Hannah Genchur and husband David of Jacksonville, Madison Stickley of Baton Rouge LA, and Gretchen Stickley of Jacksonville FL. She is further survived by two great grandchildren, Riley and Colt Genchur of Jacksonville FL. She was preceded in death by her sister Marie Gibbens Ristroph and her two brothers, Richard “Dickie” Gibbens and John Gibbens.
Gail received a Bachelors from LSU with a degree in Education. She was a renowned artist and teacher in Louisiana and Florida. She owned and ran several art studios in her time, and students flocked to her classes for her knowledge and great teaching style. She also owned the Frame Shop and Gallery in the Avondale area of Jacksonville, and her customers relied on her expertise in art and framing. Her own art work became very popular in the area.
She became a Master Gardener with the Extension Service and volunteered for the service for several years. She was fascinated with plants and could grow just about anything. Gail also was drawn to the beach and water. She loved the annual Thanksgiving family trip to the panhandle beach to enjoy the sounds and smells of the ocean.
Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2026, at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7 pm. There will be a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church at 11:00 am.
