Gary Claude Jones

Gary Claude Jones, 64, of Fitzgerald, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at St. Vincent s Medical Center from natural causes. He was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia but grew up and spent most of his adult life in Jacksonville. He was an accomplished outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, and especially any type of hunting with dogs. Gary was a Senior Construction Manager who traveled the east coast building and refitting power plants, and was well respected amongst the industry. He was a no-nonsense type person who did not mind voicing his opinion or views, and as The General, had quite the impact on the boys growing up in his neighborhood. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, children, Brett Jones, of St Augustine, Amber May, of Jacksonville, mother, Nellie Jones of Fitzgerald, brother, Ken Jones of Tampa, sister Sandra Barnwell of Fitzgerald, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one great-grandson. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida, and a funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Hogan Baptist Church, 8045 Hogan Road, Jacksonville, FL, Services will be officiated by Peter Copeland with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
