

George Andrew Deihl Sr. (71) passed away October 26th, 2015 surrounded by his family in Jacksonville, Florida. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Dolly, his 4 children (George Jr., Allyson, Stephanie, Matthew) and his children-in-law (Tess, Mike, Scott). He will always be loved and remembered by his granddaughters (Olivia and Penelope). George is survived by his siblings (John, Monica, Joe).
George learned multiple languages while traveling the world working with the Peace Corps, building houses in Mexico and even rode a motorcycle across Eastern Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart while serving his country in Vietnam as an US Army Ranger. George actively served his community through organizations such as Big Brother and Big Sisters, the United Way and many others. He worked as a software developer for AT&T, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, and as well as within his own business. He was also loved keeping bees. George was very involved with Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be held on October 28, 2015 from 5-7pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244, with a Rosary at 6pm. Funeral Mass will be October 29, 2015, 10am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244, with burial to follow, 12:30pm, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council #648 1773 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210 which will be used to feed the poor during the holidays.
