

He graduated from Michigan State University, where he met his future wife, Nancy Jean Longley. They were married on July 24, 1954. He was an Air Force pilot flying B-47’s for the next four years and they lived in Orlando, Florida for most of that time. He then worked for General Electric and was transferred to Jacksonville, Florida in 1965. They joined Lakewood Presbyterian Church shortly after moving to Jacksonville. He missed his true passion (flying) and went into the private aviation business after a few years in Jacksonville.
A memorial service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, June 4th at Lakewood Presbyterian Church (2001 University Blvd. W), with Reverend Joy Laughridge officiating.
George is survived by two sons; Mark (Nicolette) and Keith (Robin), two daughters; Amy Bradfield (Paul) and Meg Sheffield (David); ten grandchildren; Grant (Liz), George, Sarah Maffei (Matt), Caroline Manges (Wes), Courtney Johnson (Matt), K.J. (Paige), Rebecca Kuell (Brian), Kyle Bradfield, Matthew Bradfield, Lindsay Sheffield; and seven great grandchildren; Cailin Hall, Emma Hall, Anna Beth Momberg, Ella Kate Momberg, Ford Johnson, Lennon Manges, and Max Kuell.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that any gifts be made to Lakewood Presbyterian Church or Community Hospice and Palliative Care on Sunbeam Road in Jacksonville.
