I was so saddened by the news of George's passing. It's been almost a month, but being remote the news did not travel so quickly. We both worked together starting in 1974 through 1993. Almost 20 years! I can say that I never met a more well rounded person as George. He was the most talented technician I ever met, and a wonderful stage performer and musician. George once offered me some musical cassettes in the 1980's. He said he had an extra copy of the music. I was expecting some rock band music, or modern dance music.  Was I surprised when I opened the package I found a wonderful collection of classical Mozart. George was so sophisticated in his taste! A wonderful coworker and such a wonderful talent in many disciplines. 

Yesterday, Christmas Day, I thought of all the Christmases my brother and I shared. On Christmas Eve our family would gather to celebrate. The family included grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. Someone always dressed as Santa, unbeknownst, to us, and sneak out of the house. At precisely midnight, there would be a knock at the door or jingling bells and all the kids would run to the door to let Santa in. The gift giving would then begin. Of course, being a Puerto Rican family we would have had the requisite delicious foods earlier in the evening, accompanied by music and dancing. This is pretty much how we celebrated Christmas even as we got older, had spouses and children. 70 years of celebrations my sweet Ge. You will forever live in my heart.

George was my husband for 45 years, we were together for 46 years and looked forward to celebrating 50 years together. He was the love of my life. A patient, kind, dependable, forgiving, loving and supportive partner who tolerated my quirks and crazy ideas. We enjoyed music, traveling, time with family, different hobbies, discussing politics and sharing life and quiet moments together. Over time I came to love him more than I thought possible. My heart is broken because it’s hard to imagine life without him but I am glad he is no longer suffering. Rest In Peace my love.

I was very saddened to hear about George's passing. May he rest in peace and may god give strength to Judy and the rest of his family at this most difficult time.  I first met George when I started work for AT&T in 1978. We were on the same team and from the beginning I found him to be most helpful and willing to help me the new guy. I found George to be very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge.  Over time I discovered that he was funny and also a musician playing Latin music.  I like to think we became friends and this continued after our move to Jacksonville, Florida in 1983. I continued working with George and found out that he also sang and acted as well. We shared stories about growing up in the Bronx although not near each other.  George was also the first person I knew who could complete the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle. He was truly a well rounded individual who will be greatly missed. My wife found a native American proverb years ago that hopefully might provide some comfort to Judy, his family, and those of us who knew him. "They are not gone who live in the hearts of those they have left behind".  
Rest in Peace George your pain and suffering are over.

George and I were in Programmer Basic training class together in January of 1974.  It quickly became clear that George was the best technical student in the class and folks would go to him when they had questions. George and I were later assigned to the Stock and Bond division of AT&T where George distinguished himself as an outstanding systems programmer and analyst.  Over many years I had the pleasure of working with George on numerous projects and always enjoyed his friendly demeanor, great sense of humor and technical expertise.  I was very sorry to hear of his passing and would like to express my sincere condolences to Judy and George's family.

I will always remember your visit to Brazil.
As couples, we were young and full of energy.  From Sao Paulo we drove to the south of Brazil.  This area was colonized by German and Italian immigrants.   We were lucky.  We had incredible food and incredible portions!
We enjoyed your visit and wish we could bring memories back to life.
I lost Wilson in May 2020.  May George and Wilson both rest in peace and in the comfort of our Lord.
 
  



My deepest condolences go out to you and your family my dear friend Kathy.  I know you siblings are close.  Just happy you got to spend so much quality time with him near the end.

I met George at American Transtech. I chuckle to think of it because I was a "non-techy" in a "techy" world and George was one of the few who were very patient with me and took the time to explain everything in terms I understood. But more than his patience, I remember his kindness, to everyone.  Such a classy man.  My sincerest condolences to George's friends and family.  May he rest in peace. <3

My brother from another mother, George. I first met George in 1980 when I started my job at AT&T in Piscataway, NJ. We immediately bonded. We played ping pong, or as George preferred, “Table Tennis”. He thought ping pong was too an insulting name for the sport. We also started playing racquetball in NJ.  We continued playing racquetball for a couple of decades in Jacksonville.  
We formed a family, as we were new to Jacksonville and had no blood family nearby.  I loved to hear him play his piano and vibraphone. He was a musician, a singer, an actor and could dance a slick Swing with Judy. He was truly multitalented.  On top of all that he was extremely intelligent, a heck of a technical guru.

We all brought our kids to his house for family gatherings. He was so patient with kids, especially since they didn’t have any of their own.  He often played and sang for us to our delight. We spend good and bad times together. He was so supportive. 
 George and I shared the misfortune of contracting cancer at about the same time in 2020. We would call each other frequently during our struggles. We gave each other hope and encouragement. I, by the grace of God, recovered and am doing fine. He had recovered, but the cancer returned. Even then, I was hoping the cancer would go into remission again. All the time, I hoped and prayed hard for his recovery.
He was truly a brother to us. We loved him and will miss him greatly.

George and I go way back to our early teens. We were always playing basketball in his backyard. He had an unbelievable hook shot that he NEVER missed, it was unreal. Even though he moved to Florida he was in my thoughts. We had texted recently about a model car that I had seen and George had owned when he was younger.

I’m so sorry, Kathy. I know how important our siblings are to us and how much you loved your brother. I can only imagine the sadness you’re experiencing. Sending you strength during this very tough time. My sincere condolences to you and your sister.

G G & I were childhood buddies he was intelligent humble & sometimes impish. Very competitive in sports especially basketball where he would wear ankle weights to make his legs stronger & he thought would help him jump higher Back in the early 60s his favorite college basketball player was Calvin Murphy who played for Niagara   He would pull a tiny radio at night sit on the stoop (Bx thing) & would listen to a faint play by play. Till this day I still wonder how he got reception    A true renaissance man. God Bless you G. G. ❤️🙏🏼❤️

I really didn't know George very well but one New Year's Eve I had the time of my life! I got to dance with Georges   band all night long! The best was dancing with George Sr. 
A night I will never forget.

I feel sad yet blessed and honored to have known George. I have learned much from George just by observing him and seeing him live his life. I learned a certain way from the men in my life of what it was to be a man. Those who tried to teach me, came from the area of machoism. I have always heard the importance of being a man of your word by men who did not keep their words, broke promises and lived recklessly. By George’s example, not talk, I’ve learned about setting boundaries, commitment, loyalty and perseverance as well as keeping promises and being a man of your word. George worked hard since I have known him. He loyally worked for the same company for decades. He has been a husband to my sister since the 70s until death did them part. A fulfilled vow many Christians and religionist have failed at. I have learned to love, appreciate and respect George. He was not just my brother in law he was my family. After the way I have lived my own life and disappointed my family George still wished the best for me. I am grateful to know him and be family. I love you George. Thank you my brother for the example and lessons of what it is to be a good man.

I reported to George for a while at American Transtech.  He was always respectful and respected. May God have mercy on him, may he rest in peace, may God comfort him after his battle here.  I pray God also comfort George's family and bring happy memories.

I had known George all our lives. To me he was always just Ge, which is what he was called by family and close friends. Our families were very close. Our parents were best friends growing up in Spanish Harlem and his parents were my God Parents.  We shared many memorable childhood experiences, first at the Soundview Projects and later when his family moved to Ward Ave in the Bronx. We felt like we were family and even introduced each other to our friends, as cousins. Even when my family moved upstate to Plattekill, NY, we stayed in touch through letters and occasional visits.  As teens, he came for the summer to wait on tables with me at my parent’s resort, Villa Sunny Acres.  We were inseparable and went through many rites of passage together. Hiking, camping, dating and sports. We both received Comp Sci degrees and as he joined AT&T, I joined IBM and had ongoing discussions on technology. My wife and I spent many enjoyable events and excursions with George and Judy. We lost touch a bit when he moved to Florida but always picked up where we left off, like old times, whenever we spoke or got together.  He was intelligent, insightful, practical, musically talented and funny.  He was a true Renaissance Man who would have been successful in any number of professions. With his passing, I lost a piece of myself and my life will be forever changed but I will always cherish the many laughs and adventures we shared. Rest in piece buddy, until we meet again.  My deepest condolences to his wife Judy and also to his sisters Janice and Kathy.

It has taken me a moment to find the words to put on paper. In life there are people that affect us when they part from this world. Then there are others that affect us only for a short moment. Finally, you have the ones that affect us so much that they take a piece of us with them when they leave. There are no true words to say how I feel when I heard that George passed. Knowing that he is no longer physically here is something that only time will heal, but I know that he will live on thru all the lives that he touched. I have so many fond memories that I am able to cherish from when our friendship started in the music industry. We were able to bring so much joy to the Latin community thru our entertainment. Our brotherhood started in 1985 with Latin Frequency under the direction of Jose Pepe Aponte my daughter’s godfather. Then George became my co-owner to Puerto Rico Latin Sound a Salsa Band which then converted to Impacto Latino/Latin Impact. Not only was he my co-owner he was my right hand, my mentor, and my brother from another mother. I know that time will not bring you back or change what happened, it doesn’t take away the pain either. As humans we only learn how to deal with it in better ways. I can say that I experienced this when we lost our bass player/music director my blood brother Geraldo Cruz last year. I find comfort in knowing that you both have now joined forces in the heavens and that you both are now watching over all of us and not missing anything. Who knows maybe you all are getting the band started up there. Though we don’t understand it, we all still have a mission here on earth as you have completed yours. I know that God must have had a very special job that he needed you for. One thing that I can say is that the only beauty in grief is that it helps us realize how immense love can be. This is not a goodbye my brother this is until we meet again.

George and I worked together at the Raritan River Center (RRC) in NJ, moving to Jacksonville in 1983.

Even though we worked in different departments, George and I would run into each other on a fairly regular basis.

From the first time we met it was immediately apparent George was a very smart person and was outwardly friendly.

I liked George from that moment moving forward.

Unlike many other very technically proficient technicians, George always took the time to chat a bit and was more than willing to share his knowledge, somewhat of a rarity.

And for me very much appreciated.

Our physical distance at work for Transtech meant George and I rarely saw one another, but when we did connect, the feeling was like really good buddies who haven't seen each other for ages.

One of the driving forces that had me looking forward to our Transtech reunions was knowing that George and his lovely wife Judith would be attending as well.

It is with deep sadness that George had to leave us, I certainly hope George's spirit finds the love I'm sure he felt when he was with us.

Rest In Peace my friend.

My family and I are sadden by George's departure. We are grateful that for many years  we were able to call him our friend. Our hearts go out to Judy and family. It was my honor to have him as a member of Latin Frequency when  Latin music was introduced in Jacksonville, in 1985. George was a star then, he is a shining star now.  "VAYA CON DIOS," mi amigo.

I have known George for most of my life going back to 49 years ago.  I remember George coming over when Rich and I got married to eat my pasta with meat sauce.  We were so excited when he  brought Judy, his new bride and the love of his life . We were so happy for both of them. That sealed the wonderful friendship even when it was at a distance after a while, when they moved to Florida.  I remember my two little ones going to the house and using their hose to get everything soaked.  He had such patience with them..
I will always remember his kindness, sense of humor especially when Judy and I had a hard time hiking at Break  Neck Trail, going up was so,so but coming down was torture.
I have so many memories especially going back years.  I am so lucky to have them.
You will always be in our thoughts and our memories will live on until we meet again to make new ones.

I am so sad and sorry about George. I wish I could have met him and heard him play music. He had a lovely warm smile and know he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Sending prayers and condolences to George’s loved ones and family he left behind   Lots of great memories from working in AT&T’s IT strategic planning (like when we took off from work - the entire planning group — and went to the TPC) when asked how we were getting our work done … George smiled and said “we are planning … right now” and then (without skipping a beat) he asked how the other IT programmers and techs were getting their work done at the same TPC?! George was funny and smart and quick witted. 

He was quick to share his love of music and even performed with his latin band and others at several events I was lucky enough to see and even got to dance at.   His love of his friends, family, music, and the latin community will always be among some of my memories of George   RIP George 🙏🏻😔

George was my manager and was such a kind person. I am so sorry to hear of this passing.  My sympathy to his family.
