Georgianna Swanson

Georgianna C. Swanson, 91, longtime resident of Green Cove Springs, passed away January 13, 2011 in Jacksonville. She was born in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late George and Jessie (Willits) Calver.

Georgianna moved to the Jacksonville area with her husband in 1959. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Green Cove Springs.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Eldon Swanson, a son George Charles Swanson and a sister Jessie Dickens.

Surviving are six children, Carroll Anne Shephard, Eldon Carl (Delores) Swanson Jr., Joanne Elizabeth (Bud) Maddocks, Dianne Ellen (John) Gaines, Richard Calver (Lynn) Swanson and Robert Mark (Catherine R.) Swanson, 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many dear friends. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her generosity, her kindness, her love for children and her fondness for laughter.

The funeral will be Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Green Cove Springs. Pastor Hunter Camp will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.

Contributions in her name may be made to the Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs or the Clay County Humane Society.
