Gladys B. Palmer was born July 14, 1936, in Masonville, N.Y. She was peacefully sent to her eternal home on July 21, 2025, following a short stay at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida at the age of 89. She was the beloved daughter of Quentin and Eva Begeal.
In 1955, Gladys married Robert “Bob” Palmer. They settled in Camillus, N.Y. and lovingly raised three children. In 1999, Gladys and Bob relocated to Jacksonville. Gladys is survived by her daughter and her son-in-law Susan and Scott Silliman of Jacksonville, and by her son and her daughter-in-law Michael and Sandra Palmer of Syracuse, N.Y. She also leaves behind her sister Wendy, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; all of whom adored her. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in January 2025 and by her son Robert, Jr. in 2008. Gladys passed away two days prior to her 70th Wedding Anniversary with Robert. We are confident they had a joyous and wonderful celebration together!
Those who knew Gladys will remember her loving character, her abundant warmth, and her devotion to her family. She was a spectacular cook and baker, creating wonderful meals and sweet treats that everyone looked forward to enjoying. In addition, she was a prolific crocheter, passing this hobby down to her granddaughter, Julia. Gladys leaves behind a legacy of generosity as she had an unwavering spirit to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
The Memorial Service to inter the ashes of Gladys Palmer, and to honor her life, will be held on August 16, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville.
