

Harry Pasco Sanchez was born April 18, 1921 in Fort Valley, GA, although he spent most of his early life in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, spending 39 months in Australia and New Guinea with the Fifth Air Force. His squadron received two stars and two Presidential citations for the New Guinea and Papuan Campaigns. After returning to the states he married Frances Glenn in 1945. Harry was an avid outdoorsman. At an early age he learned to fish and hunt with his father and he continued these sports with his friends and sons throughout his life. he is survived by his wife, Fran (Frances Glenn); two sons, Mike and his wife, Irene (Amelia Island) and Mark and his wife Mary Ellen (Crescent, GA); three grandchildren, Cooper (Atlanta, GA), Michael (Amelia Island) and Hannah (Statesboro, GA), and nephews Bill, Jerry and Jim Tharpe, along with countless nieces, nephews, their children and assorted urchins. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Ortega Methodist Church on Saturday, September 15 at 3:00.
