

Helen Phillips Peak, 89, November 14, 2017, Jacksonville, Florida. Daughter of Rev. C.L. and Lucille Phillips, Helen grew up in Hinesville, Georgia. After attending Georgia State College for Women, Helen relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. There she worked for General Electric Company where she met the love of her life, George T. Peak. They were married in 1951, and they raised their family in the Southside of Jacksonville. In addition to being a homemaker, Helen worked a variety of temporary or part-time jobs. Also she was a Sunday school teacher of ten-year-old girls for many years.
Helen is predeceased by her husband George. Surviving are her three children, Patricia Spakausky (Patrick), Karen Ostrow (Steve), and Mark Peak (Terry); grandchildren, Dylan Herndon, Kelly Herndon Condell, Carson Barrow Lange, Tanner Spakausky, Cameron Lyon, Rachael Peak, Savannah Peak, and Cody Peak; great-grandchildren, Cordia Herndon, Brianna Herndon, John Herndon, and Caiman Condell.
Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida, from 10AM until 11AM Friday, November 17, followed by a memorial service led by Father Bob Marsh, her loving nephew, at the same location. Helen will be buried beside George in the Peak family plot in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a contribution in her name to Hubbard House of Jacksonville.
