Helen "Glo" Williams

Glo was born in St. Augustine, FL, April 15, 1928 the only child of James A. and Nell Tully Colee. A life-long Catholic, she was a member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine and attended school at St. Joseph’s Academy.

After high school, she attended college at Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN, later transferring to the University of Florida where she graduated as a member of the 2nd female graduation class. She married Dr. J.B. Williams, Jr. of Hendersonville, NC in 1951 and they moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1958.

Glo was a member of the Junior League of Jacksonville and the Watsonia Garden Circle. She served as President of the Riverside Hospital Auxiliary and was a Life Member of the St. Jude Circle of St. Matthews Catholic Church.

After 54 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband and, later, her grandson, Jean L. Baker.

She leaves behind three children, Jean B. Williams, III (Susan), Helen Moody Baker (Tim), and James C. Williams (Amy), and 6 grandchildren, Lindsey Williams, Carolyn Williams, Margaret Baker, Colee Williams, Lee Ward, and Rachel Ward.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glo’s memory to St. Catherine Laboure’ Manor or Community Hospice of N.E. Florida.
