Herbert Thomas Monroe

Herbert T. Monroe, age 83, passed away on November 5, 2017 at the McGraw Center for Caring Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on October 6, 1934 in Dorchester, Massachusetts to James and Frances Monroe. Herbert has been a resident of Jacksonville for twenty years and a former resident of Marco Island, Florida, originally coming from Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to retirement he was a Manager of Communications with AT&T for over 25 years. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Corrine Monroe. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Monroe. He is also survived by his three sons, Glenn and Chrissy Monroe of Westbrook, CT; Steven Monroe of Cary, NC; Brian and Alison Monroe of Jacksonville, FL; and a cousin, Henry Buckley of MA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00am at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32256. Family requests contributions in lieu of flowers to Community Hospice of NE Florida.
