H. Patrick Parrish, son of Homer and Georgia Parrish, passed away in San Marcos, California on September 6, 2016. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Mr. Parrish attended the University of Florida, beginning his lifelong passion for the Florida Gators and an illustrious career as a syndicated sportswriter, reporter, and editor for newspapers such as the Jacksonville Journal, the Panama City News-Herald, the syndicated Newspaper Enterprise Association in New York City, and the Palm Beach Post-Times and the Perry Newspapers where he was an executive-editor. He was editor-in-chief of the Lake Worth Herald and the head of his own public relations and advertising firm. Mr. Parrish was a storyteller and poet who loved playing the ukelele.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline; his children, Karen, Cindy, and Patrick; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, 2600 Ribault Scenic Drive., Jacksonville, Florida.
