

Irene Crauswell, 89, passed away peacefully October 21, 2025, at Community Hospice Riverside with her niece at her bedside. She was born on March 26, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida the daughter of Ernest L. Coon and Susie Mae (Hamrick) Coon.
Irene graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Fla.
She worked for Independent Life. She attended Lannie Road Baptist Church.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest L. Coon and Susie Mae Coon, the love of her life for 63 years Charles A. Crauswell, brother in laws Jerry, Johnny, James Crauswell, sister-in-law Bea Mosley, Mary Whitney.
She is survived by her brother Buddy Coon (Thelma), she is survived by two sister in laws Ann Crauswell and Jeannie Crauswell, nephew Ernest F. Coon Jr (Brenda), nieces Rosina Capehart (Mark), Roxanne Capehart (Steve), host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Irene’s love of life was evident to all.
She loved playing the piano, baking her delicious sour cream pound cakes, she played the piano for Westside Church of the Nazarene, and Oakhill Church of the Nazarene, Played for a Church in Lawtey Fla. Her and Charles would host a group of friends and family once a month to sing, fellowship, enjoy delicious food and to praise God, she would invite everyone that she could. She was always willing to help anyone that needed help. Her love and devotion to Christ was always her top priority and then her everlasting love for her entire family was in the forefront in everything she did. Her early childhood was full of love from her mother and father and her brother. Though a disease created challenges for her in recent years, her faith and devoted caregiver, her niece Roxanne Capehart together met those challenges with grace and dignity. Her LORD and savior Jesus Christ enabled both to move forward and give them spiritual guidance to meet the health obstacles they both faced.
Now Irene is singing in heaven with her beloved mother and father and reuniting with her beloved husband Charles A. Crauswell. Well done thy loyal and faithful servant.
A visitation will be held at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, located at 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211, on October 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral at 11:00 am, with Pastor Chris Perry officiating. The committal service will follow on October 28, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N. Main St. Jacksonville, FL 32211
